3D Design Model

Step 1:

Firstly we need to choose a Plane to Design the Punch. As you can see on the image the Punch is designed on the Front Plane. Once choosing a plane we designed the outline of the punch. We gave in the required dimensions.

Step 2:

After designing the outline on one side of the punch a simple step known as Revolved Boss can be used to get the full product. The Punch will now be in its most simple form, without any knurling or chamfers.

Step 3:

Now we need to produce a Knrul for the punch. We choose to go for a diamond knurl.We drew on the top surface a box shape that we would use to prodyce the knurl. With the use of Sweep Cut we were able to produce cuts through the Punch.

Step 4:

Now we need the Sweep cut to rotate around the surface of the punch. Only this way can we achive the diamond knurl form. So with the use of the Helix/Spiral we choose the cut and rotate it. We gave it a 0.5 revolution.

Step 5:

We then used Mirror option to change the Sweep cut direction. This way it cuts between each other.We then use Circular pattern to produce the dimaond cuts. We need to choose the axis running through the centre of the punch. To create the diamond knurl both the Cut Sweep & the Mirror need to be selected.
